… Dr. Nelson Villaluz Beltijar Ph.D., h.c, Entertaining Global Motivational Speaker & Honourary Doctorate Graduate from the Cornerstone Christian University in Christian Leadership & Business, is a Certified Coach Practitioner – Life Coach & Executive Business Coach – from The Certified Coaches Federation. He is also a Kinesiology graduate from the University of Western Ontario, as well as, an Honours graduate from the Sports Injury Management – Athletic Therapy program at Sheridan College in Ontario, Canada. To further compliment his Health & Wellness education, Nelson has also attained an accreditation from the American Council on Exercise (ACE) as a Certified Personal Trainer. Since 1992, he has worked at various high profile Sport – Medicine clinics and Commercial Gyms specializing in orthopedic injury assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation
In addition to being employed in the clinical setting, Nelson has worked as a Sports Injury Rehabilitation Instructor, as well as, an Athletic Therapist / Personal Trainer with special populations such as the entertainment industry, youth fitness, heart & stroke recovery, gymnasts, multiple sclerosis, figure skaters, motor vehicle accidents, professional dancers & performers, martial artists, orchestral musicians, industrial athletes, weekend warriors, high performance athletes, and Canadian National and Provincial Sport Teams.
Nelson considers himself fortunate to have had the ability to participate, struggle, FAIL, and excel in many personal endeavours, as well as, team / individual sports & business ventures. He feels truly blessed to have had coaches, teachers, instructors, mentors, teammates, friends and family members who have always provided him with a positive environment to GROW.
Shockingly, Nelson was diagnosed with cancer in June 2016 and immediately hospitalized for supervision, evaluation, and chemotherapy treatments. This was the beginning of a challenging 3 years. His enjoyable personal and professional life, as he knew it, had taken a turn for the worst in a blink of an eye. His humbling, non-working, hospital living, wheelchair bounded Years of 2016, 2017 and 2018 were filled with cancer tumour removal surgeries, surgical complications, uphill rehabilitation, 911 calls, a plethora of In-Home Nurse & Personal Support Worker appointments, business closures, and many anxious days & evenings living with uncertainty while waiting on Cancer related MRI results, Blood Cancer Tumour Marker Tests, CT scan results, and countless Cancer Dr / Medical Team follow up appointments. The physical, emotional, and selfless support of his friends & family were the glue that kept him together during this dark chapter of his life. As fate would have it, after a 2.75 year battle with cancer, he was “miraculously” stamped Cancer Free on September 28, 2018.
His current rehabilitation “project” is to graduate from his imprisoning wheelchair of 3 years into a mobile walker, then on to “2” canes, then eventually to a single cane, with the aim of triumphantly returning back to full functional ability walking on his own alongside his friends and family once again.
As a Certified Coach Practitioner, Nelson Beltijar chooses to focus his coaching efforts on being a “Life Coach & Executive Business Coach” for Youths and Young Adults, aged 14 – 34 years old, who are currently looking to pursue their Vocational, Personal, and Professional Greatness. He has successfully created and directed a variety of Programs throughout the Greater Toronto Area since “1987”, ranging from Youth & Adult Leadership Programs, to Youth & Adult Sport and Activity Camps, to Youth & Adult Personal, Professional, and Academic Goal Setting Sessions & Seminars, and last but least, to Business Development Consulting Workshops for Today’s Modern Day Health Professionals.
