Please List TWO “Business or Life Lessons” – (Or One of Each) – That You Have Learned Along The Way That Has Significantly Contributed To Your Personal and / or Professional Development and Success ???

Business Lesson :

Chapter Title – “A Team Captain Earns Respect : Loyalty Doesn’t Just Happen, It’s Earned” …

Life is a Sport : Page 306 – 307 …

(She =‘s Coach) …

… “She (coach) told me that people don’t just start off giving you their loyalty and respect.  She said it had to be earned over time and they have to know that you really “care” about them.  She told me I needed to take an interest in each player on the team and find out more about them and show them I “care” about them, by calling them if they miss a practice to see if they are ok, or calling and checking up on them if they’re sick, or giving someone a reassuring comment or call after practice if I know they have had a tough one.”

“She (coach) said that most people want to feel a part of a team, and if they feel their captain “cares”  about them, not just because they are playing well but because they are a person, then they will come to respect you as a leader and follow you through any of the ups and downs of any game or practice.” …

… Who are you loyal too and why ???

… What are You doing to gain Loyalty ???

“Leaders become great, not because of their power, but because of their ability to empower others.” –  John Maxwell

Life Lesson :

Chapter Title – “Making Excellence a Habit  :  A Lesson In Hard Work” …

Life is a Sport  :  Pages 71 – 72

(Owen =‘s Coach)

… “For example, how many of you like to run suicides ???”

Again, there were no hands in the air

“Of course you don’t” Owen (coach) said.  “No one does.  But we do them day in and day out because we all know you need them to be able to run up and down the floor with ease to be successful in this game.  You practice and practice so that when you play you’re giving it your very best”

“That’s true of basketball, and it’s true of anything else.  You need to make “striving for excellence” a habit so that when you are done playing this amazing sport, you’ll be able to attain excellence in whatever you want to do with your life.  And sometimes that means doing what you don’t necessarily want to do.”

… How true it is !!!

“We are what we repeatedly do.  Excellence, therefore, is not an act but a habit” – Aristotle

“In my own life I have been in all of these rolls. Whether you are the athlete, a parent, or a coach, I hope this series will support you on your path. Life is a Sport, Play to win.”
