Insightfully Humble…

Christian Lo is the Co-Founder of ANONY which is a lighting and product design studio located in Toronto, Canada.  ANONY creates products that produce an emotional response similar to the appreciation felt for the utilitarian yet well – designed objects of decades past.  ANONY has been featured in “Design” publications such as Azure, Dwell Magazine, Icon Magazine, MocoLoco, Sight Unseen, Design Milk and Dezeen. Their very first lighting collection, launched at the Interior Design Show, won “Best Collection” in the Studio North exhibit.  When Christian isn’t in the studio creating ANONY’s next lighting masterpiece she can be found lecturing as a Professor inspiring and cultivating the creative minds of tomorrow at her Alma Mater, The Ontario College of Art and Design – (OCAD University) – in Toronto, Canada where she specialized in Industrial Design.

Please List TWO “Business or Life Lessons” – (Or One of Each) – That You Have Learned Along The Way That Has Significantly Contributed To Your Personal and / or Professional Development and Success ???

Business Lesson :

One of the Biggest Lessons that I have ever learned in Business was the importance of having the ability to urgently and confidently “Execute.”  I think I sat around thinking about how was I going to start the business long before it actually happened. I did this for years. Looking back, I wish that I had spent less time “thinking” and more time actually “doing.”  A lot of creative people are really great on the conceptual and ideation stages of a project but for some reason it’s the Execution Phase that is usually the most challenging.  Once I realized the importance of having the ability to overcome to “Execution” stage, I immediately incorporated this Personal Skill into my everyday Professional Business Practice.

Life Lesson :

In order to move forward, personally and professionally, I realized that I had to get over my fears.  You see, I am naturally an introvert. I had to learn to get out of my shell, put myself in front of peers, start talking about my thoughts, and begin converting my ideas into realities.

Consistent forward Action was the Key, I’ve learned that on the other side of “Fear” was nothing but “Liberating Bliss.”
